Build your first logic rule
Give each respondent a relevant path. The wizard helps you choose what should happen, review the flow and publish it when you are ready.

Start with a practice survey
Open the builder
Sign in to the app. From Home, create a blank survey or click Edit on a practice survey. Name the survey so you can recognise it later.
Add questions and pages
Click a question type in the palette. Select each question to edit its label, choices and required setting. Add later pages with Add Page. Keep source questions before the follow-ups that depend on them.
Open Logic
Use Logic in the builder header. A question’s Logic shortcut also opens guided setup and carries that question into the rule’s trigger field.
Choose what you want to do
Select an option from What would you like to do? and click Next. The dropdown groups question/navigation rules, answer personalization and advanced features.
Follow the guided setup
Choose when it happens
For conditional rules, choose the source question, a condition such as equals, and the matching answer. Add condition combines another check. Advanced conditions lets you nest All/Any groups.
Choose what happens
Select the action and its question or page target. Add another action applies another change under the same condition. Expand the optional Otherwise section if a nonmatching answer needs a specific action.
Use the setup that fits the feature
Personalization asks for a source and later target. Randomization, quotas, variables, scores and repeated pages have their own configuration fields. They do not need an unrelated When condition.
Review the final flow
Check both branches and read the summary. Try answers highlights the matched path for conditional rules. A waiting state means an answer is still needed. Edit links and Back return to the setup with your entries intact.
YES in the diagram means “the condition matches”
A screening rule can test whether the respondent answered No. In that case the diagram’s YES branch is selected when the respondent answers No.
Save the draft, then publish
Save the reviewed logic
On the final wizard step, click Save logic. Your changes join the survey draft. If the tutorial creates more than one rule or setting, complete and save every part before publishing.
Confirm the draft is saved
Close Logic. Wait for the builder’s save/sync status to complete. You can reopen Logic to check the saved rule or setting. Save logic does not by itself update the public survey.
Publish the survey
Click Publish in the builder, then Publish Now in the confirmation. Use the public link to test the published survey. After later edits, publish again before checking the live result.
Test in a fresh respondent tab
Start with a fresh public survey tab. If you already had an older published version open, reload and start a new response. Use a practice survey for test submissions.
Next and Submit have different jobs
Page and question jumps run when respondents click Next. A matched completion or screening ending changes the navigation button to Submit. The ending is acknowledged by submitting; changing an answer alone does not write a completed response.
Edit and organise saved logic
- Open Logic to see readable summaries under Your rules. Use Edit to reopen a rule in the same wizard.
- Use Enabled to temporarily turn a rule off. More contains Duplicate, Up, Down and Delete.
- Rules are evaluated in order. When several navigation rules match on the same page, the first matching destination wins.
- Flow shows page paths. Test simulates answers without submitting responses. Settings contains advanced configuration and response/quota counts.
- Cancel discards the current wizard’s unsaved work. Closing edited logic offers Keep editing or Discard changes. Your already saved rules remain intact.
A useful test routine
| Check | What to look for |
|---|---|
| Matching answer | The intended question, requirement or destination applies. |
| Nonmatching answer | The normal or Otherwise path applies. |
| Unanswered source | A rule that needs an answer waits, rather than treating missing data as a negative answer. |
| Change an earlier answer | The follow-up and eligible answers update; hidden/skipped answers do not remain in the final response. |
| Back and reload | Back follows the visited route. Same-tab public progress can recover on reload when storage is available, until the session/publication expires. |
| Fresh public session | Test the currently published version, not an old tab. Public submissions create real local responses. |
